Another two pension funds could change shareholders

09.04.2009, 17:07 10

At least two other mandatory private pension funds (2nd pillar) could change their shareholders in the course of this year, because they have few participants and will not be able to survive on the market without merging with another player. The funds most likely to be sold are the ones managed by OTP and by Prima Pensie, which have 22,700 clients and 21,600 clients respectively. Pension managers generally estimate that funds with fewer than 100,000 clients cannot stay on the market because their expenses are much higher than their revenues. However, the 100,000 threshold is the minimum level, with some managers saying funds need at least 250,000 clients.
