Astra sees 0.6m-euro losses after 6 months

Insurance company Astra-Uniqa closed the first six months of the year with a loss worth 0.6 million euros (over 2.1 million RON), against a profit worth some 0.08 million euros (0.3 million RON) in the similar period of last year, according to a report published by the company on the RASDAQ. In 2005, Astra-Uniqa reported a loss of almost 6.2 million euros (22.4 million RON), all of which was generated in the second half of the year. "All our indicators are within the level budgeted," stated Radu Mustatea, Astra's general manager. He said the company's budget for this year provided for losses, but did not specify the value. The company saw gross underwritten premiums worth some 52 million euros in the first half of the year, out of which, 51.6 million euros came from general insurance. Astra's business doubled against the first six months of 2005.
