Bucharest airports to begin privatisation in June

25.04.2007, 19:16 7

Compania Nationala Aeroporturi Bucuresti (the National Airport Company Bucharest), which resulted from the merger between the two airports - Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu and Otopeni Henri Coanda - will begin a process of privatisation in June this year. However, it is not clear how big the stake involved in the sale will be. "The shareholders of the two airports have decided to approve the merger between the two companies. My intention is to privatise the new company. Now we are finalising the procedures of the merger and setting up a management team. When these stages are completed, within a month we will begin privatisation proceedings," stated minister of transport, Ludovic Orban. On May 10, the newly established company will become operational, and within one-month privatisation proceedings are to be initiated. A share capital increase is considered for Compania Nationala Aeroporturi Bucuresti, which now stands at around 143 million RON (approximately 40 million euros), as well as floatation on the stock exchange.
