06.11.2006, 17:41 13

Brau Union, leader on the local beer market, has announced a 10% increase in sales for the Golden Brau brand in the first half of this year against the same time in 2005. According to company representatives, the growth is due to the diversification of the product supply and to the increase in the marketing budgets. Golden Brau is the most significant local brand in the company's portfolio, a brand, which sees sales worth some 1.1 million hectolitres a year, almost a third of Brau Union's total sales. Positioned on the mainstream segment, Brau Union saw a 6% increase in sales last year, mainly because of the launch of a 1.5-litre PET packaging. Cumulated sales of Brau Union rose by 17% in the first half of this year against the same time in 2005. In the first half of the year, Brau Union's turnover went up 25% against the first six months of 2005. Brau Union underwent a reorganisation process in terms of its management and its product portfolio. After losing 3% of its market share in one year (2004), Brau Union repositioned itself, giving up some of its brands, such as Kaiser, Arbema, Regun and Ciuc Black and changed four members of the company's management team, including the chairman.
