Hirsch expands in Eastern Europe from Cluj

18.08.2006, 19:34 8

Austria's Hirsch Servo AG group invested 4 million euros in a plant manufacturing expanded polystyrene, located in Rascruci, Cluj county. "The investment is part of the policy related to our expansion in Central and Eastern Europe. High energy prices have considerably pushed up demand for polystyrene insulation and also generated rising interest in Western standards related to the external insulation of buildings. This is the reason why we chose to invest in Romania," Peter Grabuschnig, general manager of the EPS processing unit and a member of Hirsch Servo AG managing board, told ZF Transilvania. The whole of production made in Romania will go to the domestic market. The company currently has its own network of sales agents. Hirsch-Servo Romania forecasts sales will amount to approximately 500,000 euros by the end of this year. Mircea Popescu, general manager of Hirsch-Servo Romania, estimates the market of expanded polystyrene will witness considerable growth over the following years.
