26.06.2008, 19:33 12

Mega Image, the largest supermarket network in Bucharest, could reach turnover worth 150 million euros this year, in the wake of new openings and the integration of the La Fourmi network. The retailer reported a 32% sales increase in 2007 against the previous year, to 93.5 million euros (312.2 million RON). The sales increase comes amid an expansion of the network by five stores in 2007, two of which were opened in the last month of the year, as well as amid an over 20% organic growth. According to data centralised by ZF in the 2008 Business Yearbook, after releasing its financial data, Delhaize ranks 10th among the top players in food-dominated retail, where German and French groups prevail (Metro, Rewe, Carrefour and Schwarz - owner of Kaufland). Mega Image, held by Belgian group Delhaize, currently operates 24 supermarkets on the local market, 21 of which are located in Bucharest.
