New boss at SABMiller Romania

14.04.2003, 00:00 5

The Romanian division of SABMiller, the world's second-largest beer company, will have a new general manager, as Steve Woodward has come to the end of his three-year mandate. SABMiller Romania ranks second on the Romanian beer market, with a 15.2% market share and a portfolio including brands such as Ursus, Timisoreana and Pilsner Urquell. Woodward will take the reins at the Czech branch of SABMiller and will be replaced in Romania by Karl Lippert, who is now running SABMiller operations in Hungary. SABMiller entered Romania in 1995 and Steve Woodward was appointed general manager in 2000. His main strategic decisions were the acquisition of the largest independent local producer - Bere Timisoreana (2001) and a significant restructuring programme (completed last year). ZF
