Philips Romania posted turnover worth over 100 million RON (29 million euros) last year, a 40% increase in RON against the previous year. The company's gross profit went down 30%, reaching 7 million RON (almost 2 million euros). Philips has four of its five divisions present in Romania - electronic products, medical systems, home appliances and personal care products, as well as its lighting division. The only division not represented locally is the semiconductor division. Part of these activities is handled directly by Philips Romania, whereas some of the products are imported and sold through importers. Philips's lighting division is active on the local market through a joint venture with Elba, under the name Philips Elba Street Lighting. Last year, Philips Romania changed its manager, with the former chief executive of the local office, Paul Hansen, being replaced by Ilona Ceausoiu, the former head of the home appliances and personal care division.
