Unirea and Hanul Ars maker doubles sales

28.06.2004, 00:00 16

Massive advertising investments have helped double sales to $10 million last year, Euroavipo Posta Calnau, the producer of the Unirea and Hanul Ars spirits and of the Sao liqueur announced. Euroavipo is part of the Eurocafe Group, which controls Murfatlar Romania, the biggest winemaker on the Romanian market, whose sales reached $24 million last year. Euroavipo launched a strong advertising campaign last year to promote its main brands. Unirea sales were eight times higher. The highest sales growth was that of Unirea, a spirit that reached 10.6 million units (one unit equals 0.5 litres), 733% more than in the previous year in terms of volume and 1,365% more in terms of value - as the average price went up from $0.49/bottle to $0.87/bottle. Unirea sales exceeded $7.2 million last year. "We've received signals that the medium priced spirits segment, which includes Unirea, is on the rise due to consumer migration from the premium segment," says Florian Radu, Unirea brand manager.
