Businessman Dan Adamescu, the owner of the Unirea Shopping Center complex in Bucharest will invest 30 million euros in the construction of a mall close to the railway station in Brasov, as part of the strategy to develop in the big cities of the country. "I hope it (the mall in Brasov) will be done by next September. As the shopping centre in Bucharest is doing well, I am trying to develop a chain," says Carmen Adamescu (photo), Unirea Shopping Center chairperson. "We have some plans for Buzau, where we are in talks over a plot of land, and for Pitesti, though things are not certain there," she specified. Unirea Shopping Center's owner started the investment in Brasov last autumn and is now renting out the space. "We had the 10,000 square metre land secured since two or three years ago so we had to build something on it. This is a very good area. I expect 15,000-20,000 visitors a day," Adamescu says. The mall in Brasov will resemble Unirea, which attracts 40,000 visitors a day. "The mall will have a 20,000 square metre surface area. The ground floor will be dedicated to banks and gift shops, the first floor to women and the second floor to men, with home appliances taking the third floor," explains Carmen Adamescu. "There will be an entertainment area, too, but no cinemas, because I don't think the public will go for it," Adamescu adds.
