Sugar producer Zaharul Ludus, based in Mures county, ended the first quarter of the year with net profit worth 5.9 million RON (1.6 million euros), much higher than the 87,000-RON income seen during the same time last year, which follows the tripling of the production sold. Compared with January-March 2007, the production sold went up 3.6 times, from 7.2 million RON to 26.2 million RON (7.1 million euros), according to data sent by the company to the RASDAQ market. The revenues of Zaharul Ludus tripled, from 7 million RON to 21 million RON (5.8 million euros), while expenditures went up two times, from 7.3 million RON to 15.5 million RON (4.2 million euros). The turnover increased 2.6 times in Q1, from 10.7 million RON to 28 million RON (7.6 million euros).
