Businessman Viorel Cataramă, who controls Elvila, an around 100million-euro business per year, denounces the lack of unity amongbusinesspeople in Romania because they cannot present a unitedfront for projects of national importance.
This is the first time that an entrepreneur talks about this, withthe only such talks being centred around the lack of a strongowners' association and of a bank that supports Romanian capital asmultinationals are supported by banks in the countries where theyare headquartered.
"Over the last 20 years, no action by Romanian businesspeople hasbeen completed successfully. Romanian businesspeople have so farfailed to create a strong employers' association, why would youthink they could create a strong bank? Romanian businesspeople arenot able to come together for projects of national importance. There isn't enough room for all the would-be bosses," Cataramă toldZiarul Financiar in an interview.
In Romania, most victims of the crisis were Romanian companiesafter the Government and the National Bank proved unable to supportlocal capital.
