The number of tenants in the food-court area of Grand Arenashopping centre in southern Bucharest has halved in the past year,so that only Spring Times restaurant, Canephora coffee shop and TopSandwich shop are now operational, after Swiss Grill restaurant andanother two coffee shops have been closed lately.
The area initially fitted with tables for customers was convertedinto children's playgrounds, while another space from the upperfloor of the shopping centre was taken over by the operator of abilliards centre. The karting area, launched a year ago, is notpermanently operational.
The shopping centre in southern Bucharest, the first to be openedin Bucharest after the onset of the crisis, had a lower occupancyrate than the other projects on the market right from thebeginning, and in the two years of operations more than 20retailers have closed the stores they had in the complex.
