Grand Arena opens karting track on the first floor

An indoor karting track has been set up close to the food courtin Grand Arena shopping centre in southern Bucharest about a monthago, in an attempt to keep up with increasing competition fromshopping centres.
According to representatives of developers, a five-minute ridecosts 10 RON, whilst in Cotroceni Park, another mall in Bucharestthat offers this kind of entertainment, a ten-minute race costsbetween 30 and 45 RON, depending on the day and on the timeinterval.
The track has been set up on the upper floor of the shoppingcentre, where Grand Arena is now left with less than ten tenants,mostly coffee shop and restaurant operators, after around 20 of theproject's retailers closed their stores in winter. In southernBucharest, competition among malls has been increasingly tightafter around a month ago the Sun Plaza project was inaugurated nextto Piata Sudului metro station. Grand Arena required a 180million-euro investment and counts Carrefour, Altex, Deichmann, andKiabi among its tenants.
