Rombat: 50% increase in exports

15.11.2006, 19:45 10

Bistrita-based Rombat, the leading local automotive battery manufacturer, saw a 50% increase in exports to 5.2 million euros (18.8 million RON) over the first nine months of the year, against the corresponding period of last year. Rombat's main export markets are France, Portugal, Belgium, Algeria, the Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria and Greece. "The growth seen by our exports is not a consequence of our partnership with Dacia-Renault. It is triggered by an increase in demand from other European carmakers. The fact that we provide all Dacia vehicles with batteries, however, speaks highly of us," Ioan Repede, general manager of Rombat told ZF Transilvania. Rombat management estimates turnover to exceed 31 million euros (112 million RON) for this year. In the first nine months of this year, the company posted turnover of more than 19.8 million euros (71.3 million-RON), a 16.47% increase against the same time last year.
